Note to self…

(as I’m listening to: “The Most Beautiful Songs in the World” playlist on Spotify)…

You are enough.

And even when you feel like the world is tumbling down, just know that you can fight this through because it’s all going to make sense to you one day.

You may not be saving the world, but the work you’re doing is just as important.  What lies ahead of you is so much more bigger than you, you don’t even know.  I hope days like these go away so the sadness in your eyes can fade… You deserve more and you can do more.  Stop being so hard on yourself and look at the world in front of you. It’s so beautiful and it’s so colorful; it’s sad to know that there used to be so much glitter in your eyes.  Where did it all go?

Know that sadness is not apart of you.  It’s just a feeling and you are a positive, glowing light.  Don’t let sadness fool you; you are better than what you are feeling.

Feel all of it, take it all in and let it pass, let it go.  You are strong, you are beautiful and you are positive.  It’s just today and tomorrow you will RISE.

Get to know me

Hi and welcome to my blog/journal.  I’ve always been a curious mind on all things “human” and I’ve always craved to live my best, most meaningful life.   As life is continuously passing me by, I’ve realized that at the age of 32 I still don’t have it all figured out.

Throughout my life, I’ve constantly chased unanswered questions and struggled to find MY meaning and purpose.  Every year seems like it’ll be a significant year, but this year as well as the last was very much linear.  As I’m sitting here on my patio listening to Spotify (song: Novo Amor by Anatome), I’m asking myself, “what have I done and what have I accomplished so far?”  My answer is this, “I feel like I haven’t done much, but I sure did feel the motions…there were lots of ups and downs but in terms of accomplishments I haven’t done anything…” It’s now July and I have this burning urge to LIVE the next five months and make it my best.  Seth Godin once said something like this, “if you want to grow, start a journal, write…”

And here it goes, I’m starting this journal once again with a newfound purpose: personal GROWTH.    For starters, I’m free writing, I’m pouring my heart and thoughts out.  I want to genuinely share what I’m feeling and I want to let go of all the things that are holding me back.  I want to be a CREATIVE.  I mean at the age of 32, I can’t be the only one that doesn’t have it all figured out right?

Through this journal, I want to learn how to express my thoughts, feelings, and I want to cultivate a strong relationship with myself.  I also want to share what I know and share what I learn along the way.  I want to always be ever evolving… I want to in the end, find my HAPPY.

I hope you can get a glimpse of who I am by following my journey.  My first post was beauty related (which was written over a year ago) and I still want to write, review and recommend holistic beauty products because green beauty is my hobby.  I whole heartedly believe in natural preventative skincare and I absolutely love the thought of aging gracefully.

In terms of some changes, I’ve recently moved to Palos Verdes, CA!  Here, I want to share my experiences with this new city.  For starters, I’ve become a herb gardener so I’ll be sharing gardening tips as well as my favorite spots to eat and drink in the South Bay area.

My first get to know me question is: “what do you like to do for fun?”  The answer: I READ. I’m all about books, books, books.  I absolutely love smelling books, holding books and I love to read whenever possible.  I read about 10-20 books a year and I am currently reading “Her Body and Other Stories” by Carmen Maria Machado.  For a period last year I was completely obsessed with feminist books and I couldn’t stop reading about feminism.  This year I’m incorporating more health and wellness nonfiction into my rotation so I can further my expertise in the wellness/mindfulness sphere.  Follow me on Goodreads at: jennyjk

Thank you so much for reading and stopping by.

Beauty Heroes by Innersense

“Trust yourself to make the right decision in any situation.  Trust that you’re moving in the right direction, even if you experience obstacles.  Always trust that you can Love More.” – Jeannie Jarnot

I’ve been a subscriber to Beauty Heroes for about three months now and it’s definitely my favorite subscription service.  This month’s box was such an amazing curation with 4 full sized products featuring Innersense Organic Beauty.  I couldn’t wait to try what Innersense called their “Hair Ceremony” that feeds both hair and soul with the healing power of nature.

To be quite honest, I knew nothing about this brand and when I finished watching Innersense’s Interview  on Beauty Heroes’ YouTube channel, I instantly fell in love with their products.  From a deep rooted personal story (their first born daughter was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder), the founders wanted to create products that were truly natural and good not only for people, but also for the environment.   One of the things that struck me the most about Innersense was their in depth research to using organic, wild-harvested and bio dynamic plant ingredients.  From getting rid of palm oil and castor oil, they substituted those ingredients for more natural oils such as avocado, coconut and shea oil.

When I opened the Beauty Heroes box, the first thing I noticed was their sleek white packaging and their beautiful gold logo.  The three products (leave in conditioner, shampoo and conditioner) came in 10fl oz/295 ml bottles and their Harmonic Healing Oil came in a 1 fl oz/25 ml glass bottle.

My favorite product from the 4 was the hair oil.  Since I have really fine hair it’s difficult to find oils that do not weigh my hair down or make my hair look greasy.  When I first used this hair oil, I only used half a pump and it absorbed quickly into my hair leaving it feeling non-greasy and shiny.

When you smell their products, you can see why Innersense wanted to focus on creating a ritualistic experience because the notes of sage and lavender instantly take you back to a calming, relaxing spa.  Also, the quotes on the back of each bottle help create a positive mindful experience.

The level of care and attention to detail Innersense used in their products was so transparent I can see how this company can be well received by the green beauty community.

Last but least, I wanted to share Innersense’s philosophy, which is labeled on the back of each bottle: Our unwavering commitment to Beauty Without Compromise is a reflection of our personal values and the products we create.  We formulate with the highest intention and purity.  Our products are formulated without phthalates, ethoxylates, sulfates, silicones, 1, 4 dioxane, parabens, petro compounds, propylene and butylene glycol, PEG, MEA, TEA, MIA, artificial dyes, synthetic fragrances, gluten, GMO’s, and always cruelty free.

Now, how beautiful was that?  I highly recommend everyone to experience this ritualistic hair ceremony Innersense products provide! For more information, check out their website, Innersense Beauty.  You can also purchase their products on Beauty Heroes or on Vitacost.

Don’t forget to always be beautiful, everyday.
